Farmhouse Dining Tables

Farmhouse dining tables come in many forms, but they are usually solid, heavy and rectangular with a double pedestal and often drop leaf, meaning that a table for four can be extended to seat eight. A drop leaf table is great for saving space but allowing larger dinner parties.

Farmhouse equates with rustic and country, so real farmhouse dining tables can be made from any local hardwood. If oak is prevalent where you live, then your farmhouse dining table should be made from oak, but if you live in Thailand, farmhouse dining tables are more likely to be of teak hardwood.

Dining room furniture also includes chairs, which should match the solid wood table, whether it be Amish, country or contemporary. However, you can buy whatever kind of dining table you like, of course.
