Solid Oak Dining Tables

Solid oak dining tables really set off almost any kitchen or dining room - everybody knows that. If you want to set off your kitchen or dining room you should shortlist an oak dining room table. One variety of solid oak dining tables will surely attract your family back to the family table to eat their meals. Furniture made of solid hardwoods is just so beautiful.

Solid Oak Dining Tables

There is something quintessentially homely about solid oak dining tables. The oak is so much a part of English and even British history. The fleets were of oak en construction and people even sing of 'Hearts of Oak'.

Without doubt, most rustic or farmhouse dining tables would have been built out of solid oak. Solid oak dining tables are part of British and European history and are full of nostalgia.

Solid oak dining tables are so hard-wearing too. One kitchen table constructed out of solid oak will not be cheap for sure, but it will last many lifetimes and can be passed down for quite a few generations, which actually makes solid oak dining tables good investments and heirlooms.

I particularly like the farmhouse style of solid oak dining tables of double pedestal solid hardwood construction - solid, lumpy, unbreakable, cottage oak furniture look as if it will last forever

Large Dining Tables

Large dining tables could be said to be those that will accommodate more than the average dining table which will seat six. The next size up from a six seater is an eight seater as sizes move in twos, assuming a husband and a wife or at least pairs of a man and a woman.

Not many modern houses can accommodate large dining room tables these days, which is a real shame, because there is something positively regal about sitting down to a special meal at large dining tables especially if the table is built of solid hardwood.

Contemporary Dining Room Tables

There are many beautiful contemporary dining room tables, but I prefer those contemporary dining room tables made from timber or glass. These contemporary designs will fit into all but the most traditionally styled dining rooms or kitchens.

Contemporary dining room tables can be round, rectangular or square and be made from all sorts of traditional materials, but also modern ones as well such as Formica, MDI, veneer, resin and glass.

Farmhouse Dining Tables

Farmhouse dining tables come in many forms, but they are usually solid, heavy and rectangular with a double pedestal and often drop leaf, meaning that a table for four can be extended to seat eight. A drop leaf table is great for saving space but allowing larger dinner parties.

Farmhouse equates with rustic and country, so real farmhouse dining tables can be made from any local hardwood. If oak is prevalent where you live, then your farmhouse dining table should be made from oak, but if you live in Thailand, farmhouse dining tables are more likely to be of teak hardwood.

Dining room furniture also includes chairs, which should match the solid wood table, whether it be Amish, country or contemporary. However, you can buy whatever kind of dining table you like, of course.

Round Glass Dining Tables

Round glass dining tables have been available for decades, but they still manage to look modern and stylish. They are also very easy to keep clean and because round glass dining tables do not have a grain, they cannot harbour germs, which makes them very hygienic and so ideal for a family with young children. The only stipulation with round glass dining tables is that the glass must be toughened glass for safety reasons,
